Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen appeared to have sustained an injury during a Turkish Super Liga game for his club Galatasaray during their 3-2 victory at Basaksehir on Friday.
The 27 year-old had earlier struck the back of the net for his club with a well taken shot outside the box with 16 minutes into the encounter as he continued his blistering goal-scoring form for the champions.
His attempt at adding to the scoreboard in the 30th minute however, became limited as he was forced to reclined from taking the shot after he appeared to have suffered an injury as he clutched his groin.
He was later guided off the field by a medical staff who attended to him.
Fans have expressed concerns on his setback as they hope the injury won’t keep him away for a long period.
His record last season with his six goals and two assists contribution in four matches since the start of the season has drawn interest from clubs including English champions Arsenal who eventually failed to make the deal happen for the former Wolfsburg forward as the transfer window slammed shut.
He is expected to lead the national team as the Super Eagles commence their journey to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with two qualifying matches this month.
The 3-time winners will be at home at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo for the Matchday 1 fixtures against Madagascar on the 23rd and will honour an away tie with Guinea Bissau four days later.
