Super Fight Boxing Show: NBB of C Scribe Thrilled by Massive Turnout of Ibadan Boxing Fans

Secretary General of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C), Remi Aboderin has expressed happiness at the massive turnout of spectators witnessed during the ‘Super Fight Boxing Show’ organized by Glorious Sports Promotions at the indoor sports hall of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Sunday.

The hall was full to the brim with boxing enthusiasts that came to cheer the boxers in the 13-bout boxing show, where Azeez Lateef, the ‘Sledge Puncher, recorded the fastest knockout of the night, finishing his opponent in two minutes and forty-three seconds.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the show, Aboderin who also doubles as President of West African Boxing Union ( WABU) expressed joy at seeing boxing thriving again in Ibadan with a double show, after about six months since the last professional fight was held in the city and commended the Oyo State NBB of C under the leadership of Hon. Gbenga Opaleye and its secretary, Olanrewaju Agiri for a job well done

“What I witnessed here tonight is quite encouraging and a good testament to the good work of the Oyo Board of NBB of C, under Hon. Gbenga Opaleye. The atmosphere was electric, thanks to the thousands of fans who showed up to witness this historic event,” he said.

He added “The enthusiasm displayed by the crowd not only highlighted the popularity of the sport but also underscored the importance of community support in revitalizing boxing in Ibadan. Moving forward, the board aims to organize more events that will further engage local talent and foster a new generation of boxers.”

Aboderin in his capacity as the helmsman of boxing in the West African sub- region has ensured that boxing in Nigeria and West Africa satisfies global requirements by maintaining close relationship with international organizations such as the World Boxing Council (WBC). Through his leadership position, he has been involved in shaping boxing policies across Africa and beyond.
