Africano Fc Set To Tackle Ighalo Football Academy In A Friendly Match

The Odion Ighalo Sports Centre, Epe, opposite Atlantic Hall School Lekki, Lagos will on Thursday, July, 9, 2026 witness football fire works when Africano Futebol Clube lock horns with Ighalo Football Academy in a friendly match.

The match which will kickoff at 10am, is expected to be fiercely contested, considering the football pedigree of the two sides and is part of efforts by the management of the two teams to fully prepare them well ahead of major competitions.

Speaking on the match, President of Africano Futebol Clube, Rev, ( Amb) Samuel Ikpea said the friendly match is part of the building process his Brazilian-affiliate club
is undergoing in order to make it a force to be reckoned with in Nigerian football.

“The friendly game is one of the series of friendly matches, we have put in place to keep our players in top form.

“We decided to play Ighalo Academy because, they’ll give my players the type of challenge we want and we look forward to putting up a good performance and hopefully run away with victory at the end of the day”, he said.

Ikpea who also doubles as National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club also charged his players not to take anything for granted but to go all out for victory in tomorrow’s match.

” My charge to the players is that they must avoid complacency and go all out for victory. Although it’s a friendly encounter, but they must show seriousness and come out victorious”, he stressed

So far, Africano FC have been impressive in some of the friendly matches they’ve played of recent and it’s expected, they’ll re- enact that form in the game against Ighalo Fc
