Ngor Okpala Assembly Seat: As Amajirionwu Passes Baton To Obinna Egu

Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu, member representing Ngor Okpala state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly is one lawmaker who takes his job seriously.
Once he set his foot on the chambers of the Imo State House of Assembly, he was determined to succeed.

His enthusiasm to perform to the best of his ability as a lawmaker was never in doubt.
It is therefore not a surprise that he is one of the best performing lawmakers in Imo State. He will be greatly missed as he will not be returning to the Assembly to represent his people.

The good thing is that he is leaving on a high. He is leaving when the ovation is highest. And he is not leaving Ngor Okpala without a hope. He has passed the baton to Obinna Egu to continue where he stopped.
Amajirionwu confirmed this development during the Christmas period when he provided palliatives for widows and others, telling them that they should support, canvass, and vote for Hon. Obinna Egu to succeed him come March 11th 2023 house of assembly election in the area.
He stressed that Hon. Egu will sustain the attraction of the dividends of democracy for the people of Ngor Okpala. He assured them that Hon. Egu will not disappoint them.

He however, lauded the efforts of the state’s governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma in delivering dividends of democracy to the people especially in his constituency and urged the people to always throw their support behind all the governor’s initiatives.

As noted, Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu sojourn at the Imo State House of Assembly has been very fruitful. And at this time when he is about to step aside it is important for Ngor Okpala to appreciate him for what he had done for them. He had been an advocate for the people of Ngor Okpala to commit and dedicate themselves to the ideals and vision of building a greater Ngor Okpala. He wants to see Ngor Okpala come together and speak with one voice as a people in order to reposition the area. He believes that Ngor Okpala should begin to set agenda that will navigate their future on the path of progress and development and make critical demands for the development of the area. He thinks that the area can only achieve development by building a cohesive and united front. And he is inculcating that sense of unity and purpose when he gives palliatives to ameliorate the effects of inflation on the vulnerable in his constituency.

On Sunday 18th December 2022, he doled out Christmas gifts and stimulus packages to indigent constituents and widows in Ngor Okpala and on Thursday 22nd December 2022 over 300 school children in Ngor Okpala received cash support funds for their education. Addressing the school children at the epoch making event, he congratulated all the shortlisted beneficiaries and advised them to be of good behaviour in their various homes and schools. He stated that he had entered a partnership with them by giving them cash as support to facilitate their registration for the 2022/2023 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), and encouraged them to make him proud by giving their best during the examination and make good grades. He added that he embarked on this initiative in a bid to increase the value for education in the area and wished them well as they prepare for the examination. He however urged them to inform their guardians and parents to vote for Hon. Obinna Egu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the House of Assemblyelection for the sustainability of such great gestures.

Aware that education is the bedrock of development in any society,Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu has also through goodwill and personal efforts secured federal government scholarships for three of his constituents to enable them study Public Health, English &Literacy Studies at Imo State University Owerri. According to letters issued to the beneficiaries of the federal government scholarship scheme signed by the director, Federal Scholarship Board of the Federal Ministry of Education Abuja, “ the scholarship is tenable in Nigeria and takes effect from the beginning of 2022 Academic session with the value of Two hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira(N250,000) per session.”

A loyal and committed party man, Amajirionwu at any given opportunity appeals to the people of Ngor Okpala to elect Obinna Egu as his replacement to consolidate on his achievements.

The decisive issue here is electing the most credible candidate to represent our local government area at the state Assembly in the next four years. It is in this regard that we must ‘clear our eyes’ and do the right thing for the good of our localgovernment area. Since no one disputes the need for an effective and people-oriented representation at the state assembly, it becomes critical for us to support Obinna Egu.

Right from our years at Abia State University, Obinna Egu has shown leadership character and capacity to serve his people. His stay at the Imo State House of Assembly was commendable and unprecedented from 2015 to 2019. His bills, motions and empowerment programmes were one of the best I have seen from a legislator. We should not joke with our best at this critical time. We need more development in Ngor Okpala.

Having served as principal officer at the Imo State House of Assembly in previous dispensation, if he should go back to the house depending on the zoning arrangement of the incoming house leadership, he may end up becoming a speaker or deputy speaker of the Assembly which will translate into more dividends of democracy for Ngor Okpala.

I have said it severally and I keep saying it that a local government with a rich political legacy, and an estimated population of over 400,000 people crying against marginalization should not be in opposition for God’s sake.

While, I congratulate my good friend and brother OkeNze Blyden Amajirionwu for a job well done within the period he has been in the House of Assembly, I must all also appeal to our Ngor Okpala people to support and vote for Hon. Obinna Egu to represent us at the Imo State Assembly in March for more development. Obinna Egu is our project!
