Ibadan City Basketball League is a huge success story – CEO of Showtyme Hoopers, Shola Durojaye

The CEO of Showtyme Hoopers and a member of Oyo State Basketball Association (OSBA), Shola Durojaye says the just concluded Ibadan City Basketball League (ICBL) was a huge success.
Durojaye made this submission on Monday in an interview with your authoritative news channel.

He explained that the much anticipated maiden edition of Ibadan City Basketball League was a huge success because of a number of factors, that include the number of participating teams and the concept of taking the game to different venues.

This he said helped the growth of the slamming and dunking game in Oyo State positively.

“The fans, friends and family were excited to watch their home team games. It’s a double win situation for me as a member of the Oyo State Basketball Association and CEO of Showtyme Hoopers who eventually won the inaugural Ibadan City basketball league.” The US based Surgical Instruments Specialist, said.

Shola Durojaye, a die hard supporter of Oluyole Warriors Basketball Club went on to say that he is impressed with the level of development of the game of basketball in Oyo State.

“Showtyme Hoopers is celebrating 10 years of impacting positively on the game of basketball in the country and winning the ICBL is so Special to us. Showtyme Hoopers is still on the quest of bringing another premier league team to Ibadan.” One time assistant coach of Leeds City University Basketball team, added.

Nine clubs participated in the just concluded Ibadan City Basketball League and six venues were use for the League that lasted for ten weeks.

The founder and CEO of Showtyme Hoopers who is also a basketball coach is also happy with the growth of basketball in Oyo State in the last four years.

“The improvement of the game of basketball is evident as two of our kids from Hoops Dreams basketball academy made it to the National team and represented Nigeria at the just concluded FIBA Africa Zone 3 under 16 Championship in Ghana.” Durojaye stressed.

He also has some nice and kind words for the Ibadan City Basketball League Management Committee and the Oyo State Basketball Association (OSBA) for a smooth and successful season.

“My appreciation goes to the Organizing Committee of the ICBL, the match officials, fans, friends, families and most especially the Oyo State Basketball Association Board for a huge successful inaugural edition of the ICBL.” He concluded.

Showtyme Hoopers defeated Unibadan Warriors 79-69 points in the final of the ICBL and Hoop Dreams came third at the expense of Trust Hoopers 82-62 points.

Daniel Sunday of Showtyme Hoopers won the Most Valuable Player award at the end of the competition.

We gathered that in August, the annual Showtyme Summer Slam sponsored by Shola Durojaye will be staged in Ibadan.
