Athletic Heat Brings Physiotherapy Support to 10th Anniversary Meet

Athletes competing at the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet will have access to dedicated recovery and physiotherapy services following a partnership with Deft Therapeutic and Cornerstone Therapy.

The two rehabilitation brands will establish and manage the competition’s Recovery Zone when athletes converge on the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, Lagos, on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

The initiative places athlete welfare at the centre of preparations for the anniversary competition, offering participants access to professional care before and after their events.

Services will include muscle activation ahead of races, post-competition massages, full-body stretching and assistance for athletes experiencing physical discomfort or acute injuries.

The Recovery Zone will also be equipped with massage tables, therapeutic supplies, kinesiology tape, sprays, bandages and ice packs. A designated canopy area and seating will provide space for athletes receiving treatment.

Deft Therapeutic and Cornerstone Therapy will deploy physiotherapists and recovery specialists who will work alongside the competition’s official medical personnel to coordinate athlete care and respond to emergencies.

Access to recovery services will operate under two arrangements. Athletes seeking scheduled recovery treatments and full-body stretching will be able to register beforehand, with registered participants receiving priority.

These sessions will attract a token fee, while emergency and injury-related assistance will remain free, including for athletes who have not registered.

The partnership adds a dedicated athlete-care component to an event marking a decade of Athletic Heat’s contribution to sports media and athlete development.

The initiative for the organisers and their partners extends the competition experience beyond performances on the track and field by providing athletes with support for their physical well-being.

The meet will feature the theme “10 Years of Impact. A Legacy That Keeps Running,” bringing together athletes, coaches, sports administrators, partners and athletics enthusiasts to celebrate the milestone and the development of Nigerian athletics.
