No life was lost in Asaba stadium incident -Sam Sodje

The Special Adviser to the Delta State governor on Sports, Sam Sodje has declared that no life was lost at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba where facelift jobs are being done ahead of the National Sports festival.
Sodje told Newstap that what happened there was only an accident that claimed no lives.
In a release he also made available, he insisted that the state would host a festival that is safe and befitting.
Below is the release:
“The news of the incident that happened in the Asaba stadium vollapsy though unfortunate but most be put in a clear and true perspective. It’s no longer news that in an effort to deliver a world-class facility for the upcoming national Sports Festival for the nation, the hard working Delta State governor, His Excellency, Dr.(Sen) Infeayi Okowa, through the office of the Executive Chairman of the States’ Commission has embarked on major construction work in upgrading sports facilities across the state especially the Stephen Keshi which is the main venue for the festival. In times like this, my advice to Deltans and infact Nigerians is to stick together to support the Delta State government in her efforts to deliver on the mandate to give Nigerians a successful festival rather than focusing on any unfortunate incident thus propagating discord amongst stake holders in the sports sector. His Excellency, the governor of Delta State and the Sports Commission shall deliver a successful festival to Nigerians so as to end the year 2022 with a positive attitude, peace and joy going into next year general election. The sports festival shall be safe and successful and shall be completely free of negative incidents. As we say in this part of the country, Delta nor dey carry last. Governor Okowa and the State Sports Commission shall totally and successfully deliver an enjoyable sports festival to the delight of Nigerians. While I truly commiserate with all those who may have been injured in the unfortunate incident that happened at stadium, I pray God to grant them, quick and special healing.”
