Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Trials : Blessing Ogundiran wins women 100m race
United States-based athletes, Blessing Ogundiran was the cynosure of all eyes at the ongoing national trials for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games holding at the Yaba College of Technology when she dusted other contestants to emerge winner of the women 100 meters race.
Blessing who ran a race of her life returned in a time of 11:12 seconds to emerge winner of the highly competed race.
She was followed closely by Miracle Oluebube Ezechukwu who clocked 11:15 seconds to come second while the third position went to Olayinka Olaide on 11:28 seconds.
Speaking shortly after the race, an excited Blessing expressed happiness for her victory not minding the stiff opposition from her opponents with a promise to do the country proud in Glasgow.
“I’m really excited emerging champion of this highly competitive race. All the finalists were good runners who stretched me to the limit, but am happy it ended well.
“Right now, my focus is preparing well ahead of the Commonwealth Games where I hope to give a good account of myself and have a podium finish at the second most important Games after the Olympics”, she stated.
Meanwhile, United States based Ebuka Enekwechi maintained his rating as a world class athlete by winning the men shotput event with a throw of 21: 46 meters.
