Bayelsa @ 30: Efeke Applauds Igali’s Recognition as Sports Legend

The Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports Development has congratulated the Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, Champion Daniel Igali (Oly), on his recognition among distinguished Bayelsans honoured during the state’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Igali was recognised for his outstanding contributions to the development of Bayelsa State, joining other individuals whose achievements and service have made significant impact on the growth of the state.

In a statement, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports Development, Pereyi Efeke, described the honour as a “well-deserved recognition of Igali’s remarkable contributions to sports and the broader development of Bayelsa State.”

Efeke said, “Igali remained a true Bayelsa sports legend and global icon who had brought honour and recognition to Bayelsa State, the Ijaw nation and Nigeria through his achievements on the international stage.”

He noted that “Igali’s accomplishments spanned both his illustrious sporting career and public service, from winning Olympic gold and becoming a World Champion to serving as Commissioner and contributing to the transformation of sports development in the state.”

According to him, “the recognition reflected decades of sacrifice, discipline, patriotism and leadership by Igali, whose career and commitment have continued to inspire generations of athletes within and beyond Bayelsa State.”

He added that the Ministry was proud of Igali’s recognition and commended him for his continued commitment to strengthening sports and creating opportunities for athletes in the state.

The Permanent Secretary on behalf of the management staff, athletes and sports family in the state wishes the Commissioner continued wisdom, strength and greater accomplishments in his service to sports and humanity.
