Benedict Akwuegbu Thumbs Up NNL Chairman Aluo
Ex- international Benedict Akwuegbu has joined thousands of football stakeholders in the country in commending NNL Chairman, Mr.George Aluo for the transformation he has brought to the second tier league, describing him as a quintessential administrator.
Akwuegbu, who won the Austrian Super Cup in 2000 and 2002 with Grazer AK and the league title in 2004 that gave him the ‘Best Foreign Player Award, told our correspondent, that he’s happy with the good job Aluo is doing with the most important league in the country, urging him not to relent.
” I must have to commend Mr George Aluo for the good job he’s doing in the Nigeria National League ( NNL). Before his coming on board, the league was nothing to write home about but since he assumed office, he has changed the narratives.
” I have followed the league with keen interest and discovered that it’s no.longer business as usual. Teams now win on the road, referees infeminities settled on time and unruly clubs punished which has brought sanity to the league
” Another area of interest is that the quality of the league has improved greatly and for the last three seasons, we witnessed NNL sides performing well in the Federation cup; with one of them lifting the trophy two seasons ago, while another NNL side losing by penalties in last year’s Federation Cup finals which is an indication of the quality of the league.
According to Akwuegbu who was part of the 2000 Africa Nations Cup and 2002 Super Eagles World Cup squad, what Aluo needs now is the support and corporation of all to enable him achieve more success in the NNL.
