Battle of all ages boxing tourney holds December 18

All is now set for season two of battle of all ages boxing championship to be held at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The tournament which will hold on December 18 will feature both amateur and professional boxers who will showcase their skills against each other in the ring
The contract signing ceremony was held during the week to authenticate the bouts for the day
Chief Executive Officer of De Lads Boxing Promotion, Wasiu Alabi says his passion for boxing is the reason behind his support for the pugilist game in the country

He stated that he will do all within his power to ensure boxing in Nigeria develops more than the way it is by giving the necessary support to boxers to excel in their chosen profession

” I have so much passion for boxing . Most times when I see the performance of boxers in the ring I feel so delighted but at the end they complain of so many challenges which had reduced their chances of becoming world champions and that was why I decided to promote both amateur and professional boxing to keep them busy and have some financial rewards to cater for themselves ” he said

Secretary General Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) , Remi Aboderin commended Wasiu Alabi for keeping fate with the organisation of the battle of ages boxing championship while calling on other promoters to join forces with the NBB of C to take boxing back to it’s glorious days in the land noting that his promotion intervention will go a long way in reviving boxing in the country

Remi Aboderin who doubles as President of the West African Boxing Union (WABU), called on corporate organisations in Nigeria to emulate De Lads Boxing Promotion in reviving the game so as to give talented youths hope of making it in the sports

In some of the bouts billed for the day Idris Afini will take on Idowu Okusote in the light heavyweight challenge contest while current WABU champion
Tunde Olojede will face Akeem Muri in Super Bantamweight contests with Rasheed Adeyemo slugging it out with Olufemi Akintayo in the Light Middleweight bout
Also, Moruf Akanji will battle Samuel Moses in the Super Featherweight category with Kabiru Salawu going up
against Akeem Olayiwola in the Super lightweight title fight

The bout of the day will see United States of America based Abimbola Oshundairo meeting a yet to be named opponent in the Light heavyweight challenge contest
