Imo FA begins 2024 league registration

To ensure that grassroot football clubs in Imo State actively participate in the 2024 Nigeria Nationwide League, NLO , the State Football Association, FA has commenced registration for the State League.

Mrs. Angela Nkwo-Akpolu ,member of the FA Executive Committee in a press statement endorsed by her on Thursday and made available to journalists in Owerri said that the registration is necessary to enable the association determine winners and fish out the clubs that are qualified to represent the state in the yet to commence NLO.

According to her, “the Imo State Football Association, hereby calls on all clubs in the state to register for the 2024 league to enable them participate. The winner will represent the State at the Nigerian Nationwide League (NLO) competition” she assured.

Nkwo-Akpolu further informed that the cost of registration is N120,000 so as to participate in the playoffs, while the breakdown of the fees is registration fee N70,000; affiliation fee N20,000; and administrative cost N30,000.

However, Mr. Goddy Ndudi, the FA Secretary said it point blank that any club that participated in the 2024 Federation Cup and paid her annual affiliation fee will not repeat the payment.

Ndudi opined that there will be four Groups comprising four clubs each that would play to produce overall group winners.

He pointed out that, “the league shall be played in four groups on round robin among the four winners to produce the first and second winners that will represent the state at the NLO.

“However, only affiliated clubs in the state are qualified to take part in the competition. Imo FA calls on all clubs to perfect their registration on time as the deadline is May 31st, after which the competition wl commence” he informed.

Ndudi also explained that the first and second round winners will represent the state at the NLO alongside other teams from other states of the Federation where they will compete for the coveted trophy.

He expressed the concern of the Imo FA for all registered clubs in the State to rush to their secretariat and perfects their registration to enable them participate in the NLO competition.
