Ibadan to host Season 4 Al-Farouq Aminu Good Works Basketball Camp

The fourth edition of Al-Farouq Aminu Good Works Basketball Camp has been scheduled to hold at the Basketball Courts of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan between the 7th and 10th this month.
The Basketball Camp which is in its fourth season is the brain child of Al-Farouq Aminu a former NBA and former Nigeria male national team D’Tigers player.
Al-Farouq Aminu who is also a member of Oyo State Basketball Association (OSBA) that recently concluded the inaugural Ibadan City Basketball League (ICBL), says the Good Works Basketball Camp is targeted at U-18 male and female players.
The fifty male and an equal number of female participants have been carefully selected mostly from Oyo State and some selected South West States.
The female camp is a one day event while the male will last for four days.
We gathered that the Organizers have made arrangements to accommodate the male participants for 2 nights in an upscale hotel close to the training facilities.
The objective of the Camp is to impact and improving the skills of the players in the slamming and dunking game.
The Al-Farouq Aminu Good Works Basketball Camp is also aimed at identifying talents for future international sports scholarships.
Next month the Kobi Showtyme Summer Slam Camp initiated by the CEO of Showtyme Hoopers, Shola Durojaiye will also be staged in the ancient city of Ibadan.
Since the current board of the Oyo State Basketball Association (OSBA), was inaugurated last year, the development of the dunking game has witnessed a geometric growth.
The State now has a City Basketball League, plans are at an advance stage to start a Secondary School League and periodic training of referees, match officials is getting the needed attention.
They also have a club in the NBBF Premier League and the NBBF TotalEnergies Division 1 League. Oluyole Warriors are in the Premier League while Showtyme Hoopers are in Division 1.
Hoop Dreams that produced two boys and a girl for the all conquering national U-16 teams at the just concluded FIBA Africa Zone 3 Championship competed in the last edition of the South West Division 2 League Play-off in Osogbo the Osun State capital.
The Vice Chairman of OSBA, Barrister Damola Awosika, says this is the beginning of more glad tidings for basketball in the Pacesetters State.
