CAF Champions League: Rangers Int Will Finish the Job in Benin Republic — Amobi

Rangers International may have been held to a 1–1 draw by AS SOBEMAP of Benin Republic in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie, but the General Manager of the Flying Antelopes, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku remains confident that the Nigerian champions will complete the job on the road.

Playing at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, Rangers took the lead through Chidozie Iwundu, but AS SOBEMAP fought back early in the second half to level the scores. The result leaves the tie finely balanced ahead of the return encounter.

Despite failing to secure a first-leg advantage, Amobi believes the Flying Antelopes have enough quality, experience and character to secure qualification in Benin Republic.

“Rangers FC will finish the job in Benin Republic. The first leg was not the result we expected, but this tie is far from over. I believe in the quality and experience of the Nigerian champions. Rangers will go there, fight for the shirt and get the result needed to progress.”

The major task for coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his players will be to improve their finishing and convert their opportunities, having struggled to extend their lead in the first leg.

For Rangers, the message ahead of the return leg is clear: stay focused, remain disciplined and finish the job.
