NPFL Play Off: My boys reacted well against Insurance, says Sunshine manager, Agoye

By Ifeanyi Eduzor

Sunshine Stars FC of Akure handler, Edith Agoye has heaped praise on his players following the 1-1 draw they played against Bendel Insurance in Match Day 2 of the ongoing NPFL Play-off.

According to him his team played against a very good side but was happy they rose to the occasion to avoid a defeat in the hands of Insurance.

“Kudos must go to my players for rising to the occasion against a formidable side like Bendel Insurance. This is a team that has gone unbeaten in 20 games and getting a draw against them is not an easy thing.

“You know we conceded very early in the match but when I made the necessary changes the tide of the game changed which resulted in our cancelling their goal to end the match 1-1.

Agoye expressed optimism that his side with one point in their kitty after two matches can still challenge for the title and probably get a continental ticket.

He gave assurance to his fans that the result against the Benin Arsenals will spur them to do better in their remaining three matches even as he advised both Enyimba and Rivers United not to start celebrating their four points because the battle is still on.

“We’re still on course to challenge for the title because you cannot judge a competition where every team will play five matches with only two games.

“I also want to advise both defending champions Rivers United and Enyimba who are both on four points on the log not to start celebrating because other four teams are capable of springing surprises in the remaining three games.
