Imo airport town (Umuohiagu) set to bubble for Xmas soccer tourney with N4m at stake

By George Aluo

Football will no doubt be the star attraction this Yuletide season in Umuohiagu autonomous community (Imo airport town) Ngor Okpala, Imo State as the annual grassroots football tournament gets underway on December 17.

This year’s tournament has interestingly attracted huge sponsorship courtesy of a USA based illustrious daughter of the community Olivia Baby Ekeh who is bankrolling it with a whooping N4m.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the tournament has already released the fixtures for the tournament, even as it added that everything has been put in place for a smooth kick off.

The committee thanked Olivia Ekeh for her kind gesture in sponsoring the tournament which would see teams from the four villages of Umuohiagu…Ojigbo, Eziala, Umuanyamele and Umuorisha competing for honours.

The LOC charged the participating teams to make discipline their watchword as it would not hesitate to throw out any team that brings the tournament to disrepute.

Below is the fixture as released by the LOC after its meeting early this week.
