Argentina 2023: Why Flying Eagles fell to Korea -Fuludu

Following the ouster of Flying Eagles from the on- going U-20 World Cup currently going on in Argentina, ex- international Edema Fuludu has called for early preparation of the country’s national teams participating in future international competitions.
The Flying Eagles last Sunday lost by 0-1 to South Korea in the quarter- finals of the championship and Fuludu believes early preparation would have checked the unfortunate loss.
He told newstap.com.ng that it is unfortunate that Nigeria lost to South Korea but was quick to add that the loss was evidence that there are no more minnows in football.
” It’s quite unfortunate that Nigeria lost to South Korea in the quarter- finals of the U-20 World Cup when everybody were still celebrating their victory over host, Argentina in the round of 16.
” What I found out in that team is that they lack the ability to put the ball behind the post which is a very serious loophole.
” It’s true that they played so many friendly matches where they scored many goals before traveling to Argentina but the question to ask is what was the opposition of those friendlies”, he asked sarcastically.
Fuludu believes that to get it right, the country must start now to prepare for the next edition bearing in mind that most of the players who represented the country will not be part of the team in the next edition.
“A situation whereby fire brigade approach is used in preparing teams for international competitions must be jettisoned because many countries have improved their football and it’s no longer business as usual when you describe some countries as minnows in football”, he concluded.
