Ado defeats Ikole 2-0 to lift maiden Oba Ajakaiye memorial U-13 Cup

The Ado Ekiti U13 football team on Wednesday made history by defeating Ikole LG team 2-0 to win the first ever Oba Ajakaiye Memorial U-13 cup football competition.

The much hyped encounter between the starry-eyed kids thoroughly lived up to expectations with end to end actions. However, in the 5th minute of play, Ajayi Damilola put Ado into the lead. And few minutes later, Olasunkanmi Toheeb scored the second goal for Ado to finally take the winds off the sails of the valiant Ikole kids.
At half time a giant cake was presented and cut to celebrate the posthomous birthday of late Oba Ademola Ajakaiye. In his speech, Prince Adewole Ajakaiye expressed his delight on the recent development of grassroot football in the state.
“We are happy to see events like this and we will do our best  to support Ekiti FA to ensure with the next edition is bigger and more glamorous,” he promised.
Among the dignataries that witnessed the epochal final match was Ekiti State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Akeem Jamiu, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Micheal Awopetu, Hon. Akin Oyebode – Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development.
Others include Dr Oyebanji Filani – Commissioner for Health, Professor Bolaji Aluko, the Special Adviser, Director General Office of Transformation, Strategy & Delivery and the Chairman Ikole Local Government, Hon. Sola Olominu.
