Corporate Nigeria Embraces Boxing as De’Lad Salutes Sponsors of Battle of the Ages 14.0

De Lad Boxing Promotions has expressed its appreciation to its corporate partners for their support of Nigerian boxing, following the successful staging of the 14th edition of its Battle of the Ages series, held on September 26, 2026, in Lagos.
The latest edition, tagged “No Reconciliation,” brought together professional boxers, boxing fans, sponsors and stakeholders for a night that once again demonstrated the growing commercial and social potential of professional boxing in Nigeria.
Among the organisations that supported the event were Bet9ja Foundation, Fearless Drink, Value Jet, and Gloves for Africa.
For De Lad Boxing Promotions, the support goes beyond putting corporate logos around a boxing ring. It represents an investment in athletes, youth development, entertainment, employment and the future of African boxing, saying corporate support always gives boxing a stronger foundation.
Against that background, the willingness of companies to associate their brands with professional boxing represents an important step in building a sustainable sporting industry.
De Lad Boxing Promotions therefore recognises Bet9ja Foundation, Fearless Drink, Value Jet and Gloves for Africa not simply as commercial partners, but as stakeholders contributing to the growth of a sport that has the capacity to change lives, as boxing is becoming an economic opportunity for young Nigerians.
For many young Nigerians, professional boxing is more than a sporting ambition. It can become a pathway to income, recognition, international competition and a more sustainable livelihood.
The CEO of De Lad Boxing Promotions, Alhaji Waheed Wasiu Alabi explained that Nigerian professional boxers were increasingly earning significantly more from professional bouts than they had in previous years.
He described the commercialisation of boxing as creating greater financial opportunities for fighters and attracting brands, audiences and international attention to the sport.
The 14th edition featured a series of professional contests and title opportunities, giving fighters the chance to compete before a live audience and advance their careers.
Although the much-anticipated rematch between Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola and Tosin ‘Sojar Boy’ Osaigbovo did not take place after Oyekola encountered immigration-related difficulties returning from Mexico, De Lad moved quickly to preserve the attraction by bringing in Lateef ‘Captain’ Azeez to face Osaigbovo. The replacement bout ended in a draw.
Other contests produced significant results, including Idowu Rasheed’s first-round stoppage of Mawuli Folivi of Ghana for the WBA Africa Light-Heavyweight title, Azeez Bakare’s unanimous-decision victory over Seun “Ugly Wolf” Arowolo for the national title, and Ahmed ‘Small Tyson’ Lawal’s unanimous-decision victory over Sodiq ‘Golden Boy’ Oyakojo.
For De Lad Boxing Promotions, Battle of the Ages 14.0 is another step towards a larger ambition: creating a lasting impact in African boxing.
The vision is to build boxing events that discover and develop talent, provide fighters with meaningful professional opportunities, attract serious corporate investment and create bridges between Nigerian boxing and the wider African and international boxing community.
For every young boxer who steps into the ring with the hope of changing his or her circumstances, corporate support can mean another opportunity to fight, another opportunity to earn, another opportunity to be discovered and another opportunity to believe that a different future is possible.
