Coted’Ivoire 2023: Peseiro’s target of AFCON victory with Eagles laughable -Felix Owolabi

By George Aluo

Ex international, Dr Felix Owolabi has dismissed Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro as a noise maker who can’t be taken serious ahead of next year’s African Nations Cup (AFCON) in Coted’Ivoire.

Peseiro had early this week boasted that his target is to lead Eagles to their fourth Nations Cup title next year.

Owolabi who spoke on Sports Round Up a Sportsville program on Ray Power radio said Peseiro should not be taken serious as he insisted that the Portuguese tactician has no team.

In Owolabi’s words…”Peseiro saying his target is to win the Nations Cup in Coted’Ivoire is laughable. Peseiro just got the Eagles job and he has no team. You don’t build a team overnight. I m not saying somebody should not be optimistic, but the reality on ground is that he has no team. Where are the players he is going to use to win the Nations Cup? Going for a competition like the Nations Cup is not an easy ride like going for a wedding party…let him go and ask the coach of Senegal what he did to get result. Let Peseiro get settled first before telling us how he is going to win AFCON. Let us see the team he has first…”

It would be noted that Peseiro since taking charge of the Eagles in May last year has won only two matches, even as he lost five times.
