Basketball: FIBA Africa Zone 3, Jordan Nwora Foundation back Rivers Hoopers

Rivers Hoopers of Portharcourt has gotten some morale boosting support ahead of their continental outing in Kigali, Rwanda next month.

Hoopers are billed to feature at the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) slated to tip off May 16.

President of FIBA Africa Zone 3 Col Sam Ahmedu and D’Tigers coach Alex Nwora early this week presented the Hoopers with balls and T-Shirts on behalf of FIBA zone 3 and the Jordan Nwora Foundation.

Ahmedu and his team charged the Hoopers to be of good conduct out there in Kigali and do the country proud.

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) will tip off Sunday, May 16 at the Kigali Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, with 12 teams from across Africa competing in the new professional league. 

The BAL, a partnership between the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA), builds on the foundation of club competitions FIBA Regional Office Africa has organized on the continent and marks the NBA’s first collaboration to operate a league outside of North America. The first BAL Finals will be held Sunday, May 30.
