Philip Shaibu commiserates with the Family of Ebewele

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has condoled with the family of the late Brown Ebewele over his sudden demise.

A statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Ebomhiana Musa quoted the Comrade Deputy Governor as saying that the death of Ebewele was shocking and a big loss to Edo State and the sporting world generally.

” I’m really saddened over the sudden passage of Brown Ebewele, especially at this time when we are trying to return the state to its glorious era in sports. As a national athletics coach, Brown was an asset to us during the last National Sports Festival hosted by Edo State. He worked tirelessly, as he prepared our athlets for the fiesta. His contributions put Edo in the second position on the medal table. Edo State and indeed, Nigeria has lost a strong voice and a thoroughbred sports administrator.”

According to the Deputy Governor who was the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Edo2020, the late Brown Ebewele had nurtured and prepared a good number of young Nigerian athlets who have been winning laurels for the country. ” “These young athlets and the sporting world will not forget Brown in a hurry”, he said

The Deputy Governor prayed Almighty God in His infinite mercy to comfort the family and the sporting world generally over the loss.

Brown Ebewele was a highly reputed athletics coach and activist, who rose to become a Director of Sports in Edo State and later a Commissioner for Sports during the administration of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion. Brown Ebewele died on the eve of the New Year after a surgery in a private hospital in Warri, Delta State.
