Oyo State set up Oyomesi FC, organises open screening to select players

In a move to establish a football team to represent Oyo axis of Oyo State in the professional cadre of Nigerian football, organizers have commenced an open screening to select players and technical crew that will form Oyomesi FC.
The free open screening commenced on Monday 22 January at the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Model Secondary School, Isokun area, Oyo, Oyo State according to the coordinator of the team, Alhaji. Babatunde Saheed.
The popular Yoruba presenter who issued a statement from Cote d’Ivoire where he’s covering 2023 AFCON said the development is an idea of the state government championed by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Hon. Waslat Adegoke to have a professional football team that will be representing Oyo Axis.
“We have commenced open screening to pick players that will form Oyomesi FC, a football team that will be representing Oyo Alaafin town, just as we have 3SC from Ibadan and Crown FC of Ogbomoso. And this will also provide job opportunities for our youths,” said Babatunde Saheed popularly known as Mr. Sports.
He added that, upon the establishment, the team, it will compete from the Nationwide League with a view to earn qualification to NNL and later, the elite cadre. He explained that in the alternative, NNL slot will be purchased from any distressed team that wants to sell its slot to the team.
