Oyo NBB of C mourns death of Nigerian boxer, Habeeb Oladeji Ige

The Oyo State Chapter of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) has regretfully announced the death of one of its promising professional boxers, Habeeb Oladeji popularly known as ‘Ige’ who passed away in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday.
Oladeji, a National Champion in the Super bantamweight category in was earlier scheduled to confront Tunde Turning Star Olojede during the GOTV Boxing Night scheduled for September 24 in Lagos before his untimely death.
The boxer, according to his trainer, Coach Sunny Bruce attended a training session on Friday but he complained of slight body weakness and was excused from further training and told to go home and relax but unfortunately he died in his sleep at his residence in Ibadan.”
Mourning the boxer, Chairman of Oyo State Chapter of NBB of C, Hon. Gbenga Opaleye described his death as a very sad one to the Nigerian boxing family; saying he’s still struggling to come to terms with the shocking news of his death.
“Ige is one of the best fighters Nigeria have in the Super bantamweight category, and he’s showing very promising characteristics to rule that boxing category globally, only for us to lose him to the cold hands of death without showing any sign of ill- health”, said Oyo NBB of C boss.
Also mourning the late boxer was the Secretary General of NBB of C, Remi Aboderin, who was in shock upon hearing the sad news.
He described the incident as a tragic one to the entire boxing fraternity in Nigeria, saying “the guy was a student of the Polytechnic of Ibadan and was very vibrant the last time he fought against his opponent in Ibadan.”
He however prayed to God to give his immediate family which comprises his mother and father fortitude to bear the loss.
“We’re trusting God will be with the family he left behind as we don’t pray for our boxers to leave untimely like this again”, said the NBB of C scribe.
