Bayelsa teams rule Aiteo Cup

Bayelsa State has made Aiteo Cup history as her two teams, Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens won the Aiteo Cups Sunday night at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin.

Bayelsa Queens defeated Robo Queens 4-2 to win the female Cup, while Bayelsa United defeated Nasarawa United to lift the male trophy.

Bayelsa United before Sunday night’s victory had sent Rangers, Lobi Stars and Rivers United to the cleaners.

Bayelsa were held to a 2-2 draw by Nasarawa United only for them to carry the day via penalties. They converted four of their kicks while Nasarawa converted only three.

For Nasarawa, it has been a very painful season as they also missed winning the league or at least finishing second on the very last day when they lost to Abia Warriors by 3-1 at Okigwe.
