Ex-CP Akinfenwa Challenges Police Women to Build Successful Homes, Nation

Apostle Dr. Sybil Olufunmilayo Akinfenwa has challenged female Police officers in Oyo State to see their service in the Nigeria Police Force as an opportunity to make lasting contributions to society, build successful homes and raise children capable of becoming future nation-builders.

Akinfenwa gave the charge on Wednesday at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, where she ministered to Police women as part of the activities lined- up for the outreach on Sheerah Generation 2026, with the theme, “Inspiration for Outstanding Performance.”

Speaking to Police women drawn from different police stations across Ibadan, the cleric challenged them to reflect on what they hope to build within the Nigeria Police Force and the legacy they intended to leave behind.

She urged the officers not to allow the demands and challenges of Police duties to become an excuse for neglecting their responsibilities as wives and mothers.

According to her, female Police officers could excel in their careers while simultaneously building stable homes and raising responsible and resourceful children.

Akinfenwa also admonished the officers to be dependable and reliable in the discharge of their duties, stressing that professionalism, integrity and a positive mindset were essential to achieving success in the police force.

Sharing from her personal experience, she said: “I built an administrative success during my time as a Police officer in this command. The joy I have today is because I was in the force. Policing can be sweet with a positive mindset.”

She encouraged the officers to remain inspired and committed to excellence regardless of their postings, emphasizing that success could be built anywhere an officer found herself.

“Be inspired to build success anywhere you are posted,” she said, urging the police women to recognize their strategic role in nation-building.

Akinfenwa further noted that female police officers had the capacity to contribute to the development of the country not only through their professional responsibilities but also through the upbringing of their children.

She said women in the Police Force could “build the nation and build children that will be nation-builders tomorrow,” stressing the importance of balancing professional service with responsible parenting.

Also speaking at the programme was Abimbola Jolaade Ojomo, AIG (Rtd.), aged 82, who spoke to the Police women on the importance of maintaining the dignity and reputation of the Nigeria Police Force.

Ojomo urged the officers to be good ambassadors of the Force in their conduct, both while on duty and in their private lives. She emphasized that every Police officer had a responsibility to uphold the values and integrity of the institution throughout her years of service.

The engagement formed part of the activities designed to inspire and empower women under the Sheerah Generation 2026 outreach, encouraging them to pursue outstanding performance, personal development, responsible family life and meaningful service to the nation.

The event ended with a renewed call on the Police women to approach their duties with a positive mindset, uphold professionalism and use their positions to create a lasting impact in the Force, their families and the wider society.
