Lagos set for above 50 football

All is now set for the commencement of the maiden ‘Above 50’ football championship which is slated for Friday July 28- Sunday July 30, 2023 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
According to the programme of activities for the championship signed by the initiator/ sponsor of the competition Dr. Edward Olutoke the championship commenced with a welcome Dinner for all the participating teams which was held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Institute For Sports ( NIS) Lagos on Thursday, July, 27, 2023 while official kick off and preliminary matches begins on Friday, July, 28 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos starting from 11 am.
Quarter finals and semi- finals of the tournament will be played on Saturday, July, 29.
There will be a Church service on Sunday, July 30 at the NUT Pavilion, Alausa, Ikeja followed immediately by the grand finale at the Legacy Pitch.
Speaking further Olutoke who is the President of Ikeja Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture said that all the teams are now ready for action and that the Local Organising Committee headed by Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has put all logistics on ground for a successful tournament.
He however charged all the teams to play to the rules of the game while assuring fans of quality football by the senior citizens who are not only trying to show the youths that age is no barrier to playing football but will use the tournament to relax, share business id
eas and network.
Winner of the competition will go home with N5 million while the first and second runners-up will get N2 million and N1 million respectively.
