Former NPA defender, Samanja for burial Friday

Former defender of NPA Seasiders of Warri and Eagle Cement of Port Harcourt, Richard Dickson Mordi popularly known as Sananja will be laid to rest Friday, June 12 in his home town, Igbodo, Delta State.

According to a statement by his younger brother,
Johnbull Mordi, a staff of Delta State Sports Commission, the late Samanja’s body will leave Asaba Specialist Hospital on Friday by 7am for his home town Igbodo with a brief stop over at his family compound.

There will be funeral service at 10am, followed by interment at Mordi’s compound which will be followed by reception.

It would be recalled that late Samanja, a close aide to late Super Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu while he was in charge of Sharks of Port Harcourt and Super Eagles , died on April 9, 2024 following complications from injuries he had earlier from a motorbike accident in Lagos. He was aged 57.
