Togo Catch set to organise national Pro- wrestling championship in December

Togo Catch, the body over seeing professional wrestling in Togo had announced plans to promote a national Pro- wrestling championship in Lome, the Togolese Capital on December 24 this year.

It would be recalled that the Federation was inaugurated by Professional Wrestling Africa ( PWA) in conjunction with Florida, Untied States of America based Golden Wrestling Federacy ( GWF) in November last year.

The two bodies also facilitated a three day training programme for professional wrestlers in the West African country from March 1-3 this year aimed at formally bringing Togolese into the mainstream of the mats man game .

The championship according to the President of Togo Catch, Habib Adam is to further popularize the game in the West African country and give Togolese wrestlers opportunity to put into practice what they were taught at the three day training last month.

” We’re grateful to Pro- Wrestling Africa for introducing the sports in our country and we’re collaborating with them to promote the championship inorder to bring the game closer to our country men and women as well as put into practice what we’re taught last March.

” You know that Togolese are great traditional wrestlers; a sports which is very popular in the country. The recent introduction of professional wrestling in our country has elicited a lot of interest from talented youths who are eager to not only make a mark in the sports but become world beaters in professional wrestling.

Also speaking on the championship, Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa, Olusesan Olukoya explained that his body is fully in support of the programme and will do all within it’s powers to ensure it becomes a success.

” We at Pro-Wrestling Africa are eager to ensure that professional wrestling is introduced in all the West Coast of Africa and having taken it to Togo, we are encouraged by the decision of that country to organise the national championship in December and we’ll give them all necessary support and encouragement to ensure it becomes successful.

Meanwhile, Togo Catch President, Habib Adam has made a passionate appeal to the Togolese Government to help the body acquire an international standard professional wrestling ring, allocate an office space to the body at
Kegue Stadium in Lome, provide funds to organize the programme as well as
sponsor the country’s athletes to international events in Africa and beyond.

” As we count down to the championship, I’m appealing to the Togolese Government to come to our aid because as a young body, funding is our greatest challenge now.

” We want the government to among other things helps us to acquire an international standard professional wrestling ring, allocate an office space to the body at Kegue Stadium in Lome, provide funds to organize the programme as well as sponsor the country’s athletes to international events in Africa and beyond as that will help in further development of the sports”, he stressed.
