Gusau 4+4 Solidarity Forum Salutes NFF President on Blueprint Award

The Gusau 4+4 Solidarity Forum has congratulated the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), on his recognition as the Blueprint Newspapers Football Infrastructure Icon of the Year 2025.

In a congratulatory message to the NFF President, the Forum described the award as a fitting recognition of Gusau’s commitment to the development of football infrastructure and the growth of the game in Nigeria.

The Forum said the honour was a reflection of the NFF President’s efforts to establish a lasting legacy in Nigerian football through purposeful leadership and investment in infrastructure.

It also commended Gusau for his contributions to the development of the sport and wished him greater achievements and successes in the years ahead.

Ibrahim Musa Gusau was born in present-day Zamfara State when the area was still part of the old Sokoto State. He developed a passion for football from an early age, playing the game on the streets and representing his primary and secondary schools.

His passion eventually translated into a career in football administration. He began his administrative journey with amateur club Club 50, where he served as team manager. He subsequently held similar positions with Sambo Babes and Zamfara United before joining Kassim Stars FC.

Following the creation of Zamfara State, Gusau was elected to the State Football Association Board and later became its chairman.

An accountant by profession, he also had a distinguished career in the Zamfara State Civil Service, where he rose to the position of substantive Director before retiring.

His public service career also saw him serve as Special Adviser to the Zamfara State Governor in various capacities and as Chairman of the Zamfara State Sports Commission.

Gusau’s growing influence in football administration eventually took him to the national stage. In 2010, former NFF President Aminu Maigari appointed him as Special Assistant. Following Maigari’s departure in 2014, Gusau was elected Chairman of Chairmen of Nigeria Football, a position that automatically earned him a place on the NFF Board.

He subsequently served two terms under the administration of Amaju Melvin Pinnick before being elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation on September 30, 2022.

At the continental level, Gusau has served on the organising committee of the African Nations Championship. He is also a CAF Safety and Security Officer and has served as a member of CAF organising committees for youth competitions, including the U-17, U-20 and U-23 categories.

The Forum said Gusau’s journey from grassroots football administration to the presidency of the NFF was evidence of his dedication to the development of Nigerian football.

It added that the Blueprint Newspapers award was not only a recognition of his current contributions but also an acknowledgement of his efforts to build infrastructure and institutions capable of supporting the future growth of the sport in Nigeria.

The Gusau 4+4 Solidarity Forum wished the NFF President continued success, urging him to remain focused on his vision for a stronger and more sustainable Nigerian football sector.
