Boxing: Lagos bubbles for WBO title fight

Boxing fans in Lagos will on Tuesday December 20, 2022 be treated to another round of boxing extravaganza as one of the leading boxing Promotions in the country, Monarch Events and Promotion Company holds the second edition of ‘King of the Rings’ boxing tournament in the commercial nerve centre of the country.
The main bout of the day slated for Eko Club, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos will be WBO African Super Flyweight title fight between England based Pakistani fighter, Tasif Kahn and Gabriel Lareya of Ghana.
Speaking at the weighing/ Press conference to herald the fights, President/ Chief Executive Officer of Monarch Events and Promotions, Prince Stanley Williams noted that his company will continue to maintain it’s track record of promoting good fights in the country aimed at giving adequate exposure to talented boxers to excel in the sports and become world champions.
He assured that not minding the difficulties in promoting professional fights in this part of the world, his company will continue to do the needful in making boxing grow not only in the country but the entire African continent.
In his remarks, President of NBB of C Dr. Rafiu Ladipo commended Prince Stanley Williams for his commitment towards moving professional Boxing forward in the country with assurance that the board is always ready to partner with him and other promoters in order to change the face of the game in the country.
In the other fights of the day, Ani Michael will meet Ugonna Emmanuel in a middleweight fight with Yusuf Adisa Adeniji squerring up against Ezekiel Anan of Ghana in a Super Bantamweight fight just as Onuoha Chimezie will meet Tunde Azeez in the heavyweight category with Oluwaseun Mustapha meeting Hammed Ganiyu in the welterweight even as Elisha Obizulike and Ibrahim Oloyede meet in the lightweight with Victor Benneth of Nigeria meeting Joseph Tetteh of Ghana in the light heavyweight clash.
There will also be a fight between Temirzan Baimolda of Kazakhstan and
and Waliu Arogundade in super lightweight with Ezra Areyenka meeting Frank Dodzi of Ghana in a middleweight fight while the only female bout will be between Adjat
Gbadamosi and Taye Kodjo in the Bantamweight category.
Meanwhile the two title contenders have promised to give a good account of themselves even as they both refused to predict the outcome of the fight noting that the ring will be a better judge.
The fights will be spiced up with performances by top artistes such as C Prince, B Tone. Timi Dakolo and Jaywon .
