Imo govt donates N5m to varsity’s empowerment project

The Imo State government has donated the sum of Five Million Naira(N5,000,000:00) to the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Women Association, MOUWA, as its token to support the Women/Girls Empowerment project of the association.
The state governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nkem Ihedioha made the donation at the Women/Girl Empowerment Luncheon held at the University last weekend.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Tourism & Culture, Hon. Barr. Chijioke Nzekwe explained that his administration believes in women equality and empowerment hence the donation.
He added that his Rebuild Imo Agenda administration created the Ministry of Gender and Vulnerable Persons which propagates programs on women empowerment to practically demonstrate his commitment to gender issues.
Ihedioha commended the association for organizing the programme pointing out that the theme, “Unlocking the Feminine Gender’s Enormous Potential” is most apt at this time the nation’s history.
Apart from the donation, the Imo State Government also promised to identify with programmes of the MOUWA for the empowerment of women and the girls in order to enhance the productive capacity of the female gender in the country.
