Wilson international wins ABISCO football tournament

Football  lovers in Mosan Okunola Local Council Development  Area of Lagos State and its environs were last Friday treated to the best of grassroots  football at the finals of the maiden  edition of ABISCO Football  championship sponsored by the Chairperson of the Council Area Hon ( Princess ) Olabisi Adebajo.
The five-aside-football  championship  which was held at Abessan Youth Centre which  began on November, 22 with 32 teams  brought out the best in the players who entertained  the crowd with good football  artistry.
In the finals, Wilson International  emerged the winner after recording a 3-2 penalty  victory  over Abisco Boys after their game ended 0-0 at regulation  time while in the third place match, African  Youths FC recorded a 2-1 victory over Fortune FC.
Speaking while handling over trophies and prizes to the teams, sponsor of the championship  Princess Adebajo said the competition  is part of her effort to encourage  talented youths to rediscover themselves and exhibit their talents noting that she is satisfied with the successes  recorded in the tournament.
Princess Adebajo was also full of praises to the organisers  for putting up a hitch free tournament  with a promise that the tournament  will be an annual event.
“This is part of our efforts  to develop youths and encourage  them to become  useful citizens. It is not the first time we’re  organising  such a competition.  We have earlier  sponsored  a female tournament which was a huge success
and kudos must go to the organisers  for putting up a good championship and we intend  to make it an annual  event.
Chairman  of the Organising Committee who also doubles as National  Chairman  of Nigeria  Football Supporters Club, Rev Samuel Ikpea was full of praises for the sponsor even as he challenged  other Local Government  Chairmen in the state to emulate  her and develop  football  at the grassroots.
Winner of the tournament  went home with N300,000 while the first and second runners up got N200,000 and N100,000 respectively.
Some of the teams that participated  in the championship  are; Baba Kwara Fc, Power Rangers, Royal  Academy,  Young Stars, Alimosho FC, Mosan Okunola Fc, 6 Avenue Fc, Iyana Ipaja Fc and African Church.
Others are; Sand field Fc, Awo Boys, Alimosho Fc and Super Raiders amongst others.
