As Friday, August 14, 2026 match day between high rising Africano Fc and Mido Saka FA in this year’s IX Cup competition approaches, the Brazilian affiliated team has intensified training ahead of the encounter.
The match slated for 3:30 pm at the Inspire Sports Arena (NITEL) ground, Oshodi is expected to bring out the best in the team which is participating in the biggest grassroots football championship in the country for the second time.

To ensure it surpasses it’s record in last year’s edition, which it took part for the first time, the team is undergoing vigorous training at the NPA ground, Bode Thomas, Street, Surulere, Lagos and it’s expected that the work carried out by the technical crew will manifest when the players take to the pitch on Friday.
Apart from the daily training, the management has also organized some friendly matches, where it proved that it has what it takes to be the team to watch in this year’s tournament.
Last Friday at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, the team sent a warning signal to other teams when it defeated highly experienced Edwin Collins Fc 3-1, in a game it dominated from the beginning of hostilities to the end.
Already, Africano Fc has played 11 friendly matches this year, won 2, drew 7 and lost 2 and it is expected that the team will take the same quality they exhibited against Edwin Collins to their match against Mido Saka FA
Meanwhile, President of the club, Rev. Ambassador Samuel Ikpea has charged the team to go all out for the three points at stake of Friday.
According to Ikpea who also doubles as National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, playing in the IX Cup will help in putting the players in good shape ahead of other engagements, urging them not to take anything for granted in their first match of the tournament.
“I’m happy with the performance exhibited by the team last Friday and that’s what I expect them to do when they confront Mido Saka FA and I believe that they have the quality to win that match and progress to the next stage of the competition.
” All I want them to do is to remain focus, avoid complacency and take the game serious which will enable them get the result we all want”, he concluded.
