Jackson Wang Signs as Global Ambassador for FIE on Road to LA28

The International Fencing Federation (FIE) is delighted to announce a groundbreaking ambassadorship with global superstar, entrepreneur and former Youth Olympic fencer Jackson Wang.Before entering the entertainment industry, Wang was a competitive fencer representing Hong Kong, China, making history by winning Hong Kong’s first-ever gold medal in men’s sabre at the Asian Junior Fencing Championships. Wang also won multiple National Championship titles and was ranked No.1 in Asia in the Men’s Sabre U17 category. He qualified for the London Olympic pathway at a young age, demonstrating elite athletic potential before transitioning fully into music.

Now, Wang will serve as the FIE’s first ever Global Ambassador, spearheading the Federation’s initiative to amplify the sport worldwide ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. He will represent the sport internationally and help raise awareness of major FIE events, while also taking part in Olympic-related activities on the road to LA28.

Far more than a traditional role, the ambassadorship represents a meeting of sport, culture, the arts, and legacy,built around a shared belief in fencing’s ability to inspire a new generation around the world.

From Fencer to Entertainment Phenom

Wang is no stranger to the rigours of high-performance athletics. Born into a family of elite athletes – his father is a two-time fencing Olympian and his mother was a Chinese national team gymnast – Wang began training as a sabre fencer at age 10.

In addition to appearing at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, Wang won multiple national and

international championships as a teenager and was in contention to appear at the London 2012

Olympic Games (with an athletic scholarship at Stanford University confirmed). The multihyphenate instead pursued a career in music. Now a decorated artist, Wang has captivated millions globally through albums like MAGIC MAN and MAGICMAN 2, both ofwhich debuted in the Top 15 of the Billboard 200. He is also the most-followed Chinese artist on Instagram, backed by sold-out shows worldwide and three consecutive Coachella performances, making his decision to return to his roots and become FIE Ambassador even more substantial.

Coming Full Circle

The FIE ambassadorship with Wang represents a definitive full-circle moment. It marks a triumphant return to the discipline of his youth while bridging two historic editions of the Los Angeles Olympic Games: the first in 1984 where his father competed, and the second in 2028 where Jackson will proudly add a new chapter to the Wang family’s fencing legacy.
