NPFL: Insurance threaten to pull out of Super 6 over board room points bonanza

NPFL group A leaders, Bendel Insurance have threatened to pull out of the Super 6.

Hint to this effect was dropped by the chairman of the club, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu who is the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

Shaibu noted that the board room decisions of the NFF disciplinary committee was totally unacceptable to the club insisting that the gains being made by the IMC is being eroded by the decisions.

In the words of Shaibu…”Bendel Insurance will have its board meeting on Tuesday but before the board meeting, we have the cause to write a letter to the NFF of our intention to withdraw from the league. For us, the IMC has done a great job, the league is stable, and for us, it’s about confidence for our players. We want Nigeria to do well at major competitions, the only way we can achieve that is to have a good league, a league where the players can express themselves, a league where the referees can officiate the game with the rules of the game. When you cannot guarantee the safety of the referee, we will not allow our players to play in a league where the security is not guaranteed.”

It will be recalled that IMC deducted 3pts and 3 goals from Remo Stars following the report of alleged violence on the center referee Ndubuisi Ukah that was in charge of their home game versus Gombe United, however, the NFF disciplinary committee on Saturday set aside the verdict of the IMC and restored Remo Stars 3points and 3 goals.

Shaibu said Insurance would not be part of a league where clubs enjoy board room points bonanza.
