Ladipo Appointed NUGA Games Ambassador

In recognition of his contributions over the years to the development of sports in the country, the organizers of the forthcoming Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), has appointed President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo as an ambassador of the Games.
Disclosing this to the media during his official unveiling in Lagos, Opeoluwa Adeyemo- Anjorin, the Chief Executive Officer of Media Vision Limited, event marketers of the games noted that the choice of Ladipo was based on the fact that he’s an icon who understands the language of all sports as well as an integral part of NUGA.
” The choice of Dr. Ladipo as an ambassador of the Games was based on his antecedents as a grassroots sports promoter who is known all over the world sporting community as an icon and has over the years been a great asset to NUGA Games.
” Dr. Ladipo is a guru in sports mobilization and grassroots sports development. He does not limit himself to football alone but all other sports like boxing, athletics, wrestling, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, just to mention but a few, and I don’t think there’s any body more qualified than him for this role and we look forward to the Games benefitting immensely from him”, she stressed.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ladipo thanked them for finding him worthy for the role, promising that he’ll give them all the necessary support to enable them organise a successful event.
He also promised that the Supporters Club band will be on ground in Calabar during the Games to render melodious
songs to the athletes as they go for podium finish in the Games.
Also speaking, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Dr. Samuel Ikpea, commended Media Vision for the appointment, describing it as a wise decision; saying that it will challenge members of the club to emulate his good work.
In his own remarks, Secretary General of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C), who also doubles as the President of West African Boxing Union, Remi Aboderin, said the appointment will be beneficial to the organizers as Ladipo will bring his wealth of experience that will help in putting up a seamless championship.
This 28th edition of NUGA Games tagged ‘ Paradise Games’ will be hosted by the University of Calabar this year from November 14-24 with about 120 universities expected to participate in 28 sports.
The University of Calabar is also hosting the Games, 30 years after it last hosted it and it’s expected to be one of the most glamorous in recent times.
