Makinde, Political Heavyweights Expected at Boye Nation Concert as APM Woos APC Defectors
The stage is set for the much-anticipated Boye Nation Concert, with Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, expected to attend the political and entertainment gathering scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Organisers said the event, which will feature more than 20 prominent musicians across different genres, was moved to September 21 to accommodate a major political gathering and ensure improved logistics, participation and turnout.
Beyond its entertainment value, the concert is being positioned as a major political mobilisation platform for the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, as loyalists of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, are expected to formally defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the APM.
The defectors are being led by Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, an aide to the former minister.
The development was announced during a media parley held on Sunday at the Jericho campaign office of the APM governorship candidate, Mr. Bimbo Adekanbi.
Welcoming members of the Boye Nation group into the party, the Oyo State APM Chairman, Otunba Fagbemi Adegbenro, said the party’s proposed government would prioritise inclusiveness and give young people greater opportunities to participate in governance.
Adegbenro also called on support groups, party members and voters to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the general elections, expressing confidence that the APM would emerge victorious in Oyo State and across the country.
Other members of the organising committee, including Oyo APM spokesman Michael Ogunsina; sports presenter Babatunde Saheed, popularly known as Mr. Sports; Ademola Adeeyo; Alhaji Oyewole Raji; and Damola Omiyale, said the concert would provide a significant boost to the party’s mobilisation efforts.
According to the organisers, Makinde will attend the event personally and is expected to formally receive the Boye Nation group into the APM family.
They explained that the adjustment in the concert date would enable the organisers to deliver what they described as a world-class event while creating a platform for political stakeholders and supporters to strengthen their relationship.
The organisers further said the collaboration between Ajiboye Sangogade, known as Boye Nation, and Otunba Seye Famojuro was aimed at consolidating the APM’s political structure and strengthening its chances in Oyo State and nationally.
They also expressed their commitment to ensuring the success of the party’s candidates and supporting Makinde’s reported presidential ambition.
The organisers subsequently appealed to journalists, media practitioners and bloggers to give the concert adequate coverage before, during and after the event.
They maintained that the gathering would not only provide entertainment but also serve as a platform for strengthening political collaboration, expanding the party’s support base and advancing its mobilisation activities across Oyo State.
