Let Nigerian basketball breath, Ahmedu charges stakeholders

President of FIBA Africa zone 3, Col Sam Ahmedu has pleaded with basketball stakeholders in the country to allow the game breath as that is the only way to sustain Nigeria’s brilliant showing at the international stage.
Ahmedu who bare his mind at the Navy Sailing Club where he graced the 4th FOC sailing meet said Nigeria’s interest should come first ahead of anybody’s selfish ambition.
While scoring the performance of Nigeria in basketball this year very high, Ahmedu said the country would continue to do well if people put aside their selfish interest and work in the interest of the game.
In his words…”Nigeria did well in basketball in 2021. The results are there for everybody to see. But the way forward is that stakeholders must allow the game to breath. My appeal is that people should work for the growth of the game. The elective congress should be allowed to hold early next year using the NBBF constitution. Whoever emerges after the election should be given all the support. We should all be on the same page to grow the game.”
Ahmedu said he decided to grace the sailing competition at the Navy Sailing Club because his involvement in sports does not start and end with basketball.
“I’m an all round sports person. My vision is to see the country do well in various sports. This is why I donated a trophy for the Sailing competition and I want to commend the Navy Sailing Club for what they are doing to making sailing a sport to reckon with in the country.”
