Mixed Reactions Trail Makinde’s Visit To Ibadan Golf Club

As the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) hosted Gov. Seyi Makinde in an epochal event tagged Nine Hole Golf & An Evening the governor of Oyo State, golfers and some members of the club have been expressing mixed reactions over the uncanny gesture of the Governor at the wee hours to the elections.

Governor Makinde who is a member of IGC in his speech during the visit pledged to fulfill the promises he has made more than three years ago which are the provision of a tractor to maintain the course and other sundry equipment.
Reacting to this development, some members who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity commended him for supporting the club while some queried the timing of his gestures, describing it as ploy to curry the favour of the golfing community into his side ahead of the gubernatorial polls scheduled for this Saturday.
“The Ibadan Golf Club is apolitical with no preference for any candidate, as you will recalled that other candidates from other political parties such as Senator Teslim Folarin of APC and Bayo Adelabu of Accord Party have all visited here as friends which shows the importance of this great club to the societal outlook of the State.
“But Gov. Makinde made these promises to the Late Captain of the Ola Ibironke, popularly known as Dudu Heritage more than three years ago, but now coming to revisit it when the elections are in few days is preposterous.”, said a member who craved anonymity.
