MOB Taekwondo championship ends Today in Lagos

The first Michael Opeyemi Bamidele National Taekwondo Championship which started on Friday September 18 at the Indoor Sports hall of the National Stadium ends on Saturday (today).

Athletes from various parts of the federation and taekwondo clubs across the country are involved in this event aimed at preparing the athletes for international events like the African Games and the Olympic Games.

Interestingly, para military bodies are also on the cards in this competition.

A former Commissioner for Sports and ex- Commissioner for Information and strategy in Lagos State, Opeyemi Bamidele, is the sponsor of the tournament which is part of the build-up of the NTF for future international engagements.

Bamidele, a Senator of the Federal Republic, has done so much across other sports federations to boost youth development and empowerment.

The President of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria, Tayo Popoola, expressed delight over the turnout and overall response to the MOB tourney.

“Things can only get better. We just want to get the athletes busy and fully fit for the respective global events ahead of us, Popoola said.
