N100 million at stake as TikTok Africa competition begins in Lagos

The fourth edition of the biggest money spinning TikTok competition in Africa began in Lagos on Monday, 17th, August, 2026 at Best Western Hotel Plus, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, with
contestants drawn from 12 countries.

The countries are; Cameroon, Mali, Togo, Benin Republic, Ethiopia, Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire.
Others are; Congo DRC, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Senegal and the host country, Nigeria

Disclosing this during a World Press conference to herald the event, President of TikTok Africa, Yanick Abalti, explained that the competition which will last for 12 days will enable the selected Tiktok Influencers and Content Creators across Africa showcase their countries cultures and play matches with the most tik tok influencer, winning the one hundred million naira jackpot.

Abalti while explaining that at the end of the competition, the winner takes 60% of the purse while 40% goes to helping enhance children of the winners country also announced that other participants will get between 10% and 20% commission which will be calculated
through the votes they received throughout the duration of the challenge.

On how the winner will emerge, he explained that there will be voting system where the contestants will garner points, even as he announced that voting has started already and closes by 12pm everyday, throughout the duration of the competition, using Nigerian time zone.

“We’re doing this to enable youths showcase their cultures to other countries in the continent. We did the first edition in Cote d’Ivoire and the second and third editions in Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire respectively but decided to have it now in Nigeria to enable the participants have a feel of Anglophone countries.

“The contestants were chosen based on the number of followers they have on their TikTok account and each of them have at least one million followers and we’re looking forward to their fans voting for them as the competition lasts.

Coordinator of the event Dr. Rafiu Ladipo while wishing the contestants luck in trying to win the multi million naira contest, commended the organizers for trying to use such a competition to empower the youths.

He appealed to people to follow the competition and vote for their favorite contestant in the biggest challenge contest in the continent.
