National Stadium hosts over 100 swimmers for Ikoyi Club Time Trials

The Swimming Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 is set to stage a categorization Time Trials 1 (CTT1) at the National Stadium, Lagos on Saturday September 10.

According to the organisers, the two-day event is an important checkpoint in the squad’s 2026/2027 training programme.

The time trials provide an opportunity to see how the swimmers are progressing, celebrate improvements and identify areas for continued development. It is also the point at which some swimmers may progress to a higher training category based on their performance.

About 100 children are expected to participate over the two days, starting at 10:00am on Saturday 10th till Sunday 11th October 2026. They will compete in junior, intermediate and senior categories respectively .

The Chairman of the swimming section, Akin Onabolu told our correspondent that all was set for the event
Onabolu said: “The swimmers will compete across the four strokes, different race distances and Individual Medley (IM) events. This gives the coaches a broad view of each swimmer’s development rather than simply looking at performance in one event.

“We are looking forward to seeing stronger performance, a number of personal bests and time drops across the different categories, as well as swimmers taking the next step in their development within the IC Marlins squad.

“The time trials are about more than just the times on the clock. It is about helping every swimmer understand their progress, build confidence, develop a competitive mindset and continue moving towards their full potential.”
