Qatar 2022: Morocco inflicts pain on Spain, romps into quarterfinals

By George Aluo

Historic win! That was what Morocco recorded against Spain to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup quarterfinals.

After 120 minutes of action with both sides not being able to score, it went into the lottery of penalties.

Morocco’s Spain based keeper Bono saved all the three kicks of Spain with 34 year old Sergio Busquet being one of those who failed to score.

PSG’s Hakimi, a Spaniard by birth ruined Spain when he banged in the third and last penalty for Morocco as the game ended 3-0.

Morocco is the only African country still in the Qatar World Cup race.

The other African flag bearers however gave a good account of themselves. Tunisia despite making an early exit defeated world Championships, France by a lone goal  just as Cameroun beat Brazil by the same margin.
