NBPL : Hoops & Read Edge Raptors To Record First Win, As Rivers Hoopers Stay Unbeaten

Hoops & Read recorded their first victory of the Nigeria Men’s Basketball Premier League after defeating Raptors 84-78 in a closely contested encounter.

Raptors started strongly, taking a narrow 20-19 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

Hoops & Read responded in the second quarter with an improved attacking display, scoring 26 points, but the Raptors managed 21 points to keep a 45-41 advantage heading into halftime.

Hoops & Read gradually took control after the break despite Raptors winning the third quarter 17-16.

The comeback side held a slim 61-58 lead going into the final period before pulling away with a strong 23-point finish to seal an 84-78 victory.

In another game, former champions Rivers Hoopers continued their impressive form with a dominant 80-50 victory over Comets to secure their second straight win of the campaign.

Rivers Hoopers edged the first quarter 18-15 before taking full control in the second quarter with a commanding 28-18 performance to establish a 43-33 halftime lead.

Hoopers tightened their defence in the third quarter, outscoring Comets 17-9 to stretch their advantage further.

They maintained the intensity in the final quarter to complete a convincing 30-point win.

While Rivers Hoopers celebrate back-to-back victories, Comets remain without a win after suffering consecutive defeats.

They will now shift focus to their next fixture against Hoops & Read as they search for their first victory of the season.
