Ndubuzor promises exciting Bishop Mike Okonkwo Football Finals

With less than five days to the finals of the annual Bishop Mike Okonkwo Football Competition, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee of the tournament, Deacon Malachy Ndubuzor has promised that this year’s finals will be the most glamorous in the history of the competition.
The 21st edition of the longest running grassroots football tournament in the country will be played on Saturday, August 29, 2026 and Ndubuzor noted that the committee has put all logistics on ground to ensure a successful finals.
The finals will see defending champions, Rehoboth Fc aiming to retain the title they won last year, when they confront Believers Fc in what promises to be an explosive encounter while in the women category, Wabbak Fc will meet Future Stars 99 Fc.
According to Ndubuzor, all the finalists are potentials winners of the competition judging from their performances from the preliminaries to the knockout stage.
” I want to assure our fans that the organizing committee is ready to organize a memorable finals. All the logistics are in place and the teams ready to entertain fans with their football artistry in the finals and I want to say that there’ll be no dull moment on the final day.
” And as it is with our tradition over the years, we’re going to invite some ex- internationals who will be on ground to serve as role models for the players.
Ndubuzor advised the finalists and teams for the third place matches to be disciplined on the match day and take their game serious to ensure they emerge victorious.
He was full of praise for Bishop Mike Okonkwo for sustaining the tournament for more than two decades even as he expressed happiness that the championship since inception has helped in discovering hidden talents with some of them going ahead to represent the country at the international level.
The committee chairman also announced that like in previous editions, this year’s finals will also be used to mark the birthday of the presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission( TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo.
A total of 32 male and 8 female teams started the tournament which was played on home and away basis before getting to the final stage.
