Ngor Okpala North Devt. Centre gives palliatives to less privileged women

The Ngor Okpala North Development Area has distributed wrappers and cash to over 100 less privileged women in the seven communities of the area in line with the ‘Shared Prosperity’ mantra of the Governor Hope Uzodimma administration in Imo State.
Declaring the empowerment programme open at Thursday at the Sen. Chris Anyanwu Skills Acquisition Centre, Umuowa in Ngor Okpala LGA, , the Special Adviser to Governor Uzodimma on Development Centres, Barr. CJ. Ihemedu, stated that distribution of the palliatives was part of the governor’s initiatives to touch lives of the rural women in order to cushion the effect of the nation’s current economic realities.
Ihemedu who stated that Governor Uzodimma means well for the rural populace across the state hinted that the provision of palliatives and empowerment to the people will remain a continuous exercise and will come in different ways.
He explained that selection of the beneficiaries was not based on partisan consideration but was carefully handled by community and women leaders in order to capture those truly deserving across the communities in the Development Area.
The Special Adviser commended the management team of the Development Centre for successfully organizing the programme pointing out that the turnout of beneficiaries shows the massive support, the governor is enjoined in Ngor Okpala.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Coordinator, Chief Ignatius Njoku, explained that the empowerment programme is designed to give a sense of belonging to the less privileged women adding that the exercise is a tip of the iceberg of what the Uzodimma government has for the people.
Njoku disclosed that the empowerment programme will be carried out in phases noted that move than 10,000 women will Benefit from the package before the end of Uzodimma’s administration.
Describing Senator Uzodimma as a humane and compassionate leader, the coordinator appealled to the people of the area to support the governor’s re-election bid assuring that government will continue to release better packages to the populace.
Also speaking, the coordinator of Ngor Okpala South Development Centre, Hon. Mrs Bridget Anaele described the empowerment programme as a boost to the living conditions of the beneficiaries and thanked Governor Uzodimma for giving the development centres the opportunity to impact on the people.
Mrs Anaele who assured to organize similar programme in her area soonest, thanked Governor Uzodimma for giving the development centres the enabling platform to provide succour and improve the lives of the people.
Responding on behalf of President-Generals of the various communities in the area, Chief Sunny Chidiebere Madu of Umuohiagu Autonomous Community, expressed appreciation to the government to for reach-out programme saying the beneficiaries are happy for the gesture.
He described the palliative as a rare gesture and urged the people of the area to continue to support the governor for more dividends of democracy to come.
In his renark, Dr Eme Njoku, Eze-elect of Nguru/Umuowa Autonomous Community, prayed for the present administration and urged the governor to prioritize the empowerment of the less privileged and the indigent in society in order to reduce poverty.
Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs Juliet Onugha and Lolo Oluchi Anaemeje applauded the development centre’s coordinator, Chief IG Njoku for remembering to empower women and assured him of their loyalty and support to the governor and his ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The occasion was attended by notable dignitaries among whom were traditional rulers, town union PGs, politicians and all APC ward chairmen in the four electoral wards of the area.
