“Firstly, we join all football fans in Nigeria and all over the world to condemn this dastardly act on Sunshine Stars players and officials by some unknown gunmen. This act is highly condemnable and quiet inimical to growing love for our local football league,” Ikpea said.

The awards-winning NFSC boss also noted that its very regrettable that local teams travel long distances across the country to prosecute matches on bad roads and with its attendant dangers.

“This unfortunate incident further attests to the needs to take the welfare and security of the teams participating in all the local leagues seriously.
