Nigerian volleyball Federation mourns coach Christy Amadi

The Nigerian volleyball family has been thrown into mourning following the death of former national team player and national beach volleyball coach, Christy Amadi.

The Federation described her death as a painful loss to the sport, particularly the beach volleyball community where she dedicated years of service to the development of athletes and the promotion of the game in Nigeria.

Amadi first served the country as a player, proudly wearing Nigeria’s colours at international competitions. After her playing career, she remained deeply committed to the sport, transitioning into coaching and taking up the responsibility of serving as a national beach volleyball coach.

In that role, she shared her experience, knowledge and passion with a new generation of athletes, leaving an impact that extended beyond the competitions and results.

Her death has therefore created a painful void among the players, coaches, officials and colleagues who knew and worked with her.

The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Nimrod Musa, alongside the NVBF Board, management, players, coaches and officials, expressed heartfelt condolences to Amadi’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire volleyball community.

While mourning her death, the Federation also celebrated the life of a woman who gave a significant part of herself to Nigerian volleyball.

“Coach Christy Amadi may have left us, but her service, contribution and legacy to Nigerian volleyball will remain remembered,” the Federation said.

Those she coached, played alongside and inspired, her memory will live on through the athletes and the sport she served with dedication.

The NVBF prayed for God Almighty to grant her eternal rest and give her family and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
