Nigeria’s Rise in Tennis Continues, as Seun Ogunsakin Qualifies for Wimbledon Junior Championships

Nigerian tennis has reached another significant milestone as rising star, Seun Ogunsakin, secured a place in the Main Draw of the Wimbledon Junior Championships, after a commanding 6-3, 6-1 victory over Canada’s Benjamin Azar.

Ogunsakin’s qualification for one of the world’s most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments reflects the growing success of the sport and the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to develop young talents capable of competing on the global stage.

The achievement also marked the return of top-tier international tennis to Nigeria, as Lagos hosted the Davis Cup, after a 19-year absence, further demonstrating the renewed momentum of the sport in the country.
